Between Subjectivity and Flourishing: Creativity and Game Design as Existential Meaning

This article explores how the process of designing videogames may be meaningful–that is, accomplish a larger existential fulfilment or purpose. We use reflective methodology which triangulates creative practice making videogame with reflections both during and post-practice against philosophical ideas meaningfulness. Two meaningfulness emerged. The first is generative capacity subjectivity, where anchored to our investment as creators, well in intertwining personal histories, experiences memories between reflection action. second flourishing self terms inner growth self-discovery out journeying inherent game design process. significance enquiry three-fold: more holistically understand being meaningful, present facilitate such understanding, broadly consider an instantiation media itself existential.
